Tameka Montgomery, Executive Director

Tameka Montgomery is the Executive Director of the nationally recognized Denver Metro Small Business Development Center (SBDC), which is an affiliate of the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce.  Tameka leads the Denver Metro SBDC by providing strategic leadership, management of three offices and a team of 17 staff and consultants and over 45 volunteers serving more than 4,600 individuals and businesses each year.  Since joining the organization in 2005, Tameka has led the organization to receive national recognition by the U.S. Small Business Administration as the 2012 National SBDC of the Year and winner of the 2012 SBDC Excellence and Innovation Award.  Under her leadership, the Denver Metro SBDC has achieved unparalleled success by creating innovative programs and assembling a team of high quality business advisors and network of resources.  In 2011, the combined investments and resources supported the creation and retention of 2,800 jobs, $15 million in capital investments and $32 million in contracts for area small businesses.  Prior to the Denver Metro SBDC, Tameka led the development of a local business incubator that provided low-cost office space, access to business services and technical assistance to area entrepreneurs.  Ms. Montgomery is a past Presidential Management Fellow with the US Department of Justice and a former Peace Corps Volunteer.  Ms. Montgomery holds a Bachelor of Arts from Spelman College, a Masters of Public Administration from Columbia University and is expected to receive an Honorary Doctorate in Entrepreneurship from Johnson & Wales University in May.
