SUCCESS STORIES

Maven Fire Protection Services

Founded by Alvis O’Neal, Maven Fire Protection Services brings a wealth of expertise with its team boasting 80 years of combined experience in the fire protection industry. Specializing in the design, installation, inspection, maintenance, and testing of fire safety systems, Maven delivers reliable, compliant solutions for residential and commercial properties across Denver and northern Colorado.

In a bid to elevate their business, Maven partnered with Adriane Sanford from the Denver Metro Small Business Development Center (SBDC). O’Neal humorously reflects, “To be totally honest, we did a complete overhaul after meeting Adriane. We had a lot of material, but it wasn’t in the proper formats required. We became aesthetically pleasing.” This collaboration transformed their operations and opened doors to significant contracts, such as the Auraria Higher Education Center (AHEC) FY25 On-Call Small Construction Fire Suppression Services contract, fire system projects for Denver City and County, and the Titan Facility Comcast dry system replacement.

Maven recently received certifications for Small Business Enterprise, Emerging Business Enterprise, Minority Business Enterprise, and Economically Disadvantaged Business Enterprise with the City and County of Denver, a step that will further solidify their reputation and expand regional opportunities. O’Neal credits the SBDC for its instrumental role in helping them achieve these milestones, highlighting their support and connections as invaluable.

For fellow entrepreneurs, O’Neal’s advice is simple yet powerful: “There are corners for a reason—don’t cut them. The only one that can stop success is yourself.”
